The first official collaboration between beloved Portland, Oregon-based bookmaker Danner and similarly bomber gear manufacturer Mystery Ranch of Bozeman, Montana is here, and it’s going to be hard to miss. Inspired by the rich and vivid sunsets of Montana's Big Sky Country, the limited-edition Danner x Mystery Ranch collection is designed to be versatile, durable, and comfortable, embodying the shared values of both storied brands.
The colorful, three-piece capsule includes a Mystery Ranch Scree 32 daypack, Danner Trail 2650 Mesh GTX hiking shoe, and cleverly, a lightweight shoe gaiter for keeping rocks and debris out of your footwear while hiking in rugged terrain. While gaiters have long been a secret tool of thru-hikers and OG alpinists, it’s exciting to see their addition into this mass marketed collection available exclusively through Huckberry.
Spec wise, each piece is pretty straight forward—with the bright color gradient being the main differentiator when comparing to mainline product. The gaiter-compatible Danner Trail 2650 hiker ($200) is a lightweight and agile trail shoe designed for three-season utility with a breathable mesh upper, Gore-Tex waterproof liner, and extra grippy Vibram 460 outsole offers excellent traction on uneven terrain. Completing the footwear package is the lightweight and durable gaiter ($49) made of DWR-treated stretch nylon to keep dust and rain out.
The collab Scree 32 daypack ($229) is a versatile design at home on both urban commutes and long days on the trail. The pack features Mystery Ranch’s signature 3-ZIP design that makes it easy to access the main storage compartment, while the expandable exterior bottle pockets and hydration reservoir compatibility provide ample room for day hiking essentials. The removable waist belt and double-layered bottom panel make it easy to haul heavy loads, while the patented Futura Yoke micro-adjusts to the torso length, allowing for proper stand-off between the back and frame.
