Nothing beats a thru-hike to really immerse one’s self with the wilderness. As great as they are, it’s not something we always have time or the inclination for. The beauty of the car camping expedition means most of the wilderness experience we crave plus all the creature comforts we can pack into our vehicles. For a lot of tenderfoot campers, this method is generally just way more accessible and approachable.
Northern California-based Shelter Co has spent years producing luxe camping and outdoor experiences revolving around their canvas tents that have become the icon of the word “glamping”. Launching today, Wednesday 24 June, is their all-new consumer brand, The Get Out, which introduces lighter weight nylon shelters and other goods to make your campsite the coziest one in the park.
At the core of the launch collection are three shelters—the patchwork A-Frame Tent, Classic Bell Tent, and Lite Bell Tent—each available in a range of playful colorways.
As is no surprise, we find ourselves quickly drawn to the clever A-Frame Tent, which turns up the funk dial with an impressive number of color combinations—three base colors and eight rain-fly options make for 24 different possible configurations. The flies are available in some fun solid shades in addition to patchwork stripes, pyramids, and a camo. The 89" by 89" size is perfect for couples who like a lot of space in their tent. Or even a few friends that don't mind cozying together.
The Classic Bell Tent is great for those that have the privilege of owning their own little slice of Earth to call their own. Made from a weather-resistant canvas, the rigid tent boasts a diameter of 16 feet with a sleep capacity of six. Pop it up in the yard and fits the entire fam!
For the Classic's cousin, the Lite Bell Tent, The Get Out swaps canvas for nylon and brings the size down to 13 feet to fit four comfortably. The introduction of nylon makes for some pretty excellent colors and patterns that outdoor brands typically don’t go for with their shelters.
Launching with the tents is also a Cooler Bag, some enamelware, and a line of textiles to add a little more style and comfort to camp (or home). The future of The Get Out will introduce an entire family of goods to complete their campsite vision such as sleeping bags, camp furniture, and camp kitchen goods like enamelware and utensils.
Along with high design and elevated concepts, expect to see prices that compete with the highest-end backcountry and expedition rated gear. The Get Out isn’t exactly trying to compete with those brands, but rather introduce a luxury-driven lifestyle aesthetic to an audience that has a little extra cash on hand to spend on a stylish camp experience. And really, if you only get out a couple times a year, might as well make those experiences as fun (and Instagram friendly) as possible...
